books missing!

Amazon only allows developers to ask one question every second. Given one machine this takes several days to load just 100 book ISBNS per category.  This also create a large database ( current minimal list is 40Megabytes big). We want to keep the catalogue cache within limits on the server. This gives the current limit of limited books per category.

We hope to keep update the catalogue and increase the number of pages displayed, slowly increasing the number over the next few months.

The wheel does not seem to do anything.
• Could be a problem with your version of Java
Do you have the latest version of Java (1.4 or better) running on your machine?
• Could be a problem with your browser try another one. For some reason the browser works fine on the Mac  OS X version of Firefox but has problems on Safari.
• The window is too large and you have scroll bars. In this case the mouse wheel information is sent to scroll the window not the applet. Try using a smaller page

General Fixes
• Try double clicking on the folder of interest. This will zoom into the folder /  category.
• Plus(+) and Minus(-) keys should work to zoom in and out.

Are you getting any money for this ?
Well I  will get Amazon vouchers to about 5% of the value of every book purchased though the system. If we didn’t include our Associate ID then that 5% would stay back with Amazon. When would a right thinking PHD student turn down free books? Quick buy a few books right now I’ve thought of something I need to get.

Could this be used for any other kind of information Mineing?

Sure - clearly the interface works well for hierarchical data. Other sites on Amazon(Music and DVDs). It might also be useful to tell where all that space on your hard drive has gone.

Which browsers do you know work ?
Tested
Safari - 2.03 with the latest JRE installed
    Firefox (MaxOSX) definitely works.

Why do the number of books on Amazon not agree with the number of books on your site?
Amazon is ever changing
Presumably they don’t think your going to sit and page through hundreds of pages to find the right book so they don’t display the entire catalogue they report programatically.

Where can I ask a question, say something nice  or report a bug ?
Hay we should have a form shouldn’t we?

Only 10 books? It takes months to down load them all to our tiny test server. Be patient check back in a month or two.
